Oregon
Tulip season
Spring 2026

There’s something about spring that feels fleeting in the most beautiful way... like nature is putting on a show it knows won’t last long. In Oregon, tulip season arrives like a soft exhale after winter, painting the landscape in rows of color that almost don’t feel real. And just as quickly as they bloom, they’re gone. It catches me by surprise every year, and this year, I really tried to hold the moment close and capture it best I could with my Nikon Z6II.
I had family in town, and we took a spontaneous trip to French Prairie Farms in St. Paul, Oregon. One of our favorite seasonal country side getaways. Highly recommend if you have kiddos or mini photo sessions planned!
We had a tractor pick us up and travel to multiple patches of fields full of blooming tulips. Vibrant colors splashed across a perfect pacific northwest landscape. The rain showers were on and off, the sun peeping through at the perfect moment. We went at noon, which can be tricky when the sun hits directly - managable, but I always love a dimensional overcasting spring day:)
My daughter darted off into the rows of tulips - not worrying about her getting lost or running too fast. I love how free she can be along the gentle rolling hills, her pony tail bobbing with every bouncy step and overjoyed smile. My sister in law was in town with her fiance, so I of course had to snap some couple photos as well. The perfect setting for family fun and portraits.
It's been a long, grueling winter this year emotionally and spiritually, so this spring was extra special. Time moved differently, and I was more aware of the magnificent colors and magic of life.
That’s why photography during this season feels so powerful. It freezes something that was never meant to last. It turns a momentary bloom into a memory you can return to, over and over again.
Living in Oregon, we’re lucky to witness this transformation every year. It’s a place where nature shows off a little, where seasons feel distinct, and where beauty isn’t just something you see... it’s something you experience.
Tulip season is short, but maybe that’s the point. It teaches us to show up, to soak it in, and to capture what we can while it’s here. Because before we know it, it’s gone... and all we have left are the moments we chose to hold onto.
