Hi, I’m Cora, the photographer behind Cora Wageman Photography, and I’m so glad you’re here.
Photography has always been more than just taking photos for me. It’s about telling stories, capturing connection, and freezing moments that deserve to be remembered exactly as they are. Whether you’re here as a fellow creative, a future client, or someone who simply loves imagery, this blog is a place for inspiration, education, and a peek behind the scenes of my work.
In this blog, I’ll be sharing more than just finished galleries. You’ll find insights into my creative process, tips for preparing for your photo session, stories from shoots I love, and thoughts on being a successful creative in the Portland, Oregon scene. I want this space to feel real, approachable, and helpful, not overly polished or structured.

I'm based in Newberg, Oregon and work all over the Portland Metro Area, while also traveling to unique locations like the Oregon Coast and Central Oregon here and there. The three words that describe me as a photographer would probably be: FUN, FOCUSED, and INSPIRED. I love having great energy on set, working together to create your vision, and letting the work blossom into something authentic and completely YOU. I'm very adaptable and quick to adjust what needs to be tweaked in order to set the shoot in the right, organic direction.
I love working with local artists. It's all about teamwork, not competition. No one is like me, and no one is like you. There is enough space for everyone to create and share their artistic gifts. I love getting my creative juices flowing at Cobalt Studios PDX in SE Portland. The workshops here are exciting and imaginative. If you feel like you are in a creative funk, this is the space to get out of that funk and move forward with your work!! Whether you are a model or photographer, this is a recommended safe place to create. I also love working with Portrait Slam, a wonderful community event for all artists. They visit Portland every spring with a unique theme and location for photographer's to add unique, creative work to their portfolio.
Do you have a community of artists you surround yourself with? How often do you invest in your creative process? As a photographer or artist, do you allow yourself to be seen and heard? These are questions I love to ask myself when the flow of work changes. When it's slow, no need to be anxious - it's a time to pause and asses your influences and people who can help you have an open mind with your craft. That's why I always circle back to local workshops; we have such an incredible community of artists in Portland!! Use it!!
And if being in front of the camera is new to you... do not fear!! As your photographer (and model coach if you will) I am here to help you feel comfortable and confident. Taking the pressure off is everything. I love those candid moments when my client forgets the camera is there and I can capture those relaxed, natural moments. Trust me, I got you;)
